Welcome to Omega for Macintosh
=====
"Omega for Macintosh" is a rogue-like multi-dungeon game which runs on
Apple Macintosh series.
This game is based on Omega version 0.75 and is implemented some more
features in it.
o Hardware/Software Requirement
Macintosh series hardware
(main window uses Black&White color)
2MB RAM for the application
System 6.0.7 and later
o Installing and Starting the Game
Just put 'omega' file and 'OmegaLib' folder (with its includes) on your
disk. They must be in the same folder.
Double-click the 'omega' icon and start the game . You can also double-
click a saved file's icon to continue the game (although the saved file
will be deleted after loading).
o TODO in the Game
If you double-click the 'omega' icon, you will see the title screen
and high score board. After that, you will be asked which way to select,
"run a character" or "play yourself." If you choose [r] then the character
is determined by random number (you can still re-roll them). If you choose
[p] then you are asked some (/many?) questions to determine the character
from your personality, and the result will be saved (by your choice) to
the '.omegarc' file and it can be used for the new games afterwards.
And note that the player's default name is set to the user-name of
Network ID (but it can be changed by 'R' command).
Between the play, you can use '?' command to display help messages on
the screen. To read the outlines for this game, choose "a: Overview."
To learn about commands, choose "l: Dungeon/City/Other Command List" or
"m: Countryside Command List."
o Release Note
I ported the source from Omega version 0.75, and also ported curses
library from PCcurses version 1.4.
Omega is copyright (c) 1987,1988,1989 by Laurence Raphael Brothers
PCcurses was made by Bjorn Larsson (900114).
And I added some features by public demand:
1. '^p' command saves 20 messages (10 in the original)
2. Return key and Enter key can be used to exit "*** MORE ***" status.
3. Escape key can be used to exit the bank (Only 'X' command can do in the
original).
4. Some messages and screen drawing are changed to fit the situation.
o Thanks to:
Laurence R. Brothers, Bjorn Larsson, Wataru Hirano, Yoshio Horiuchi,
Katahira, Masanori Miyoshi, and all the beta-testers.
Special Thanks to Mark G. Rodenkirch for posting this application
to Internet on behalf of me.
